Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

You give us directly:

• Account info when you register: email address, display name, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google profile photo.
• Content you submit: reviews, photos, saved favorites, restaurant ownership claims.
• Support messages you send us.

Collected automatically:

• Approximate or precise location, only when you grant permission, used solely to show you nearby restaurants. Location is used on-device. We do not store individual location history on our servers.
• Device and usage data: device model, OS version, app version, crash logs, and interaction events. We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics for this.
• Log data: IP address (short-lived) and timestamps.

We do not collect sensitive categories of personal data such as health information or financial account credentials.

2. How we use it

• Operate the Service — show you restaurants, let you save favorites and write reviews.
• Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• Moderate content (reviews, ownership claims) to enforce our community guidelines.
• Improve the app — understand which features are used and what crashes.
• Communicate with you (transactional emails, support replies).

Legal basis (GDPR): performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in improvement and security, and your consent for optional features like location access.

3. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Google / Firebase — our hosting and analytics processor (Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Analytics, Crashlytics).
• Service providers acting on our behalf, under written agreements.
• Authorities, if required by law or to protect rights and safety.

Public reviews you write are visible to other users, attributed to your display name and profile picture.

4. Data retention

• Account data: kept while your account is active.
• Reviews and photos: kept until you delete them or your account.
• Moderation data: kept for up to 3 years for abuse prevention.
• Crash and analytics data: kept per Firebase defaults (up to 14 months).

5. Your choices

• Edit or delete your reviews from within the app.
• Turn off location permission at any time in your device settings.
• Delete your account in-app: Settings → Delete my account. We'll remove your profile and pending reviews within 30 days. Aggregated or anonymized data may remain.
• Contact us at imran.uber1786@gmail.com for any access, correction, portability, or deletion request (GDPR/CCPA rights).

6. Children

HalalManiacs is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

7. International transfers

Our servers are operated by Google on Google Cloud. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. Security

We use HTTPS everywhere, Firebase Authentication, and role-based Firestore security rules. No system is perfectly secure — if we learn of a data breach affecting you, we will notify you as required by law.

9. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and update the "Last updated" date. If the change is material, we will notify you in the app.
